Four layers. Oldest at the bottom.
The class as a rock column. A core sample a metre and a half tall with a layer for every year, field notebooks for every graduate, and a hammer passed down the line.

The concept
Four years of reading time in rock. Lay down yours.
Strata turns the cohort into a stratigraphic column. A tall clear tube in the hall is filled layer by layer — sand, gravel, clay, a top layer of white — one year at a time, with each graduate adding a scoop to the last layer. Around it, field notebooks get signed like yearbooks and a cross-section of the four years runs along the wall.
It's for geology students who have been to the Red Sea on a field trip and spent it looking at the cliffs. The palette is sandstone brown, field-book cream and one marker orange for the contacts between layers.

Identity
A layer code and a field label.
A field-label lockup — locality, unit, age, collector — in Arabic and English, with the department code as the unit name. Supplied editable.
A sample number per graduate and a four-page guide to the one rule: orange marks the contacts and the year, nothing else.

Photography
Twelve shots, in order, from the bottom layer up.
Shoot the column filling: first layer, hands pouring, the class around it at the end; then notebooks open, the hammer being handed over.
A warm, slightly dry grade that keeps sand colours honest.
