The concept

Four years of building worlds for other people. Tonight, build your own.

Set Piece treats the senior day as a production the class designs. A row of painted flats becomes the scenery, each graduate gets a flat panel to paint in their own style, and the model box — the tiny cardboard version every decor student knows — sits on a plinth at the door. The night ends with a strike: the set comes down, every panel goes home with whoever painted it.

It's for decor and set design students at the Faculty of Fine Arts who have built a palace out of plywood by Thursday. The palette is backstage maroon, primer white and one gaffer-tape yellow for the marks.

Identity

A spike mark and a scene number.

A technical-drawing title block — production, scene, scale, designer — in Arabic and English, with the department code as the production. Supplied editable.

A spike-mark cross per graduate and a four-page guide to the one rule: yellow marks the floor and nothing else.

Twelve shots, in order, from model to stage.

Close on the model box, then wide on the full set, then each graduate on their spike mark, then the strike in progress.

A theatrical grade: warm light on the set, deep shadow off it. One lamp from the side does most of the work.
