The concept

You learned how water moves. Mark how high the cohort rose.

High Water stages the day around a gauge post, the kind that measures the river. Each year of the degree is marked on it, each graduate adds their name at the level they reached, and the day ends with the gates of a small weir opened and water poured through.

It's for irrigation and hydraulics students who think in flow rates. The palette is river blue, canal-wall sand and a gauge yellow.

Identity

A gauge post and a level mark.

A gauge-post system — levels, datum, station, date — used on the post, the programme and the name tags, supplied editable in English and Arabic.

A level number per person and a four-page guide on the one rule: yellow marks a level, and only a level.

Water catches the light, so the list shoots the pour against the sun: a name at its level, the gate lifting, the whole cohort at the post.

One 45-second edit anybody can cut on a phone.

The gauge filmed bottom to top as each year is read, ending on the gate opening.
