The concept

You've made everyone else's film. This one's yours.

Final Cut stages the day as a premiere. A poster with a billing block that credits the whole cohort, a gaffer-tape carpet to a step-and-repeat wall, a clapperboard for every photo, and the credits of your four years rolling on the screen at the end.

It's built for media and film students who'll judge every kerning pair, so the type is set properly. The palette is screening-room charcoal, marquee gold and paper white.

Photography

Twelve shots, in order, for a dark room with one bright wall.

The step-and-repeat wall is the only bright surface, so the list puts faces there and keeps the rest moody: the clapper snapping, the carpet from low down, the crowd lit only by the screen.

A grade preset with lifted blacks, so the charcoal stays charcoal on phones.

One 45-second edit anybody can cut on a phone.

A trailer: three title cards, the clapper, the carpet, the credits. The kind of thing this cohort cuts in its sleep.
