The concept
Four years produced a lot of evidence and none of it is filed. This realm files it.
Field Notes stages your day as a botanical expedition that has just come home. Trestle tables under trees, a field station with a specimen press and a label printer, and a wall of numbered index cards that fills up over the course of the afternoon.
Every person collects and mounts one specimen — a leaf from the campus, a ticket stub, a bad photograph, a torn corner of a lab book — labels it with a number and a date, and files it. By evening the wall is the group's four years, catalogued by the people who lived it.
It's the slowest and cheapest realm in the catalogue, and the one people cry at. If your group is more sit-under-a-tree than run-a-relay, start here.
The palette is field olive and oat with an ink line. It's built for flat daylight and open shade, which is where you'll be.

Identity
A specimen label. Everything else is that label at a different size.
A survey wordmark set as if stamped on a herbarium sheet, supplied outlined and editable, with an Arabic-ready lockup.
The label system: a fixed grid of collector, location, date, and specimen number, printed at four sizes — index card, jar label, crate label, and wall card. One layout doing all the work is what makes the wall look catalogued rather than crafty.
A numeral set 0001 to 0500, and a rule that the numbers are handed out in the order people arrive, not by year or faculty. Nobody gets to be number one on purpose.

Step-by-step builds with real costs. Start with the green ones the week before.

Print, guillotine, and put them on the tables with pens. This is the entire heart of the day and it costs less than lunch for four people.

Photography
Twelve shots, in order, for flat daylight and open shade.
The light here is easy and the risk is that the pictures are boring. So the shot list is built on hands and detail — a card being written, a specimen going into the press, the wall at 11am and the same frame at 5pm.
Each shot has a framing sketch, a phone setting, and a note on getting close enough, because almost every shot on this list is closer than feels natural.
Two grade presets that keep the olive from going grey and hold detail in white paper under sun.

Video
One 45-second edit anybody can cut on a phone.
A storyboard built as a time-lapse of one wall filling up, cut with close shots of hands, labels, and the press coming down.
Titles and lower thirds as transparent PNG sequences, so no motion software is needed.
A CapCut structure guide, including how to shoot the wall from the same mark all day so the time-lapse actually lines up.
