Cape & Cowl
Everyone gets an origin story.
A comic issue with your cohort in it. Everybody gets a codename, a cover of their own, and a panel wall the group fills in across the day.

01
The concept
Every group has the one who never sleeps and the one who fixes everything at 4am. Name them properly.
Cape & Cowl publishes your cohort as a comic issue. Every person gets a codename and a power derived from what they were actually like — collected anonymously from the group — printed as a single-character cover with their name on the masthead. A panel wall runs down one side, blank, and fills in through the day as people draw their own moments into it.
This realm is designed to be legally yours: original characters, original masthead, an original house style. Nothing here borrows a publisher's characters, logos, or trade dress, so your group can print it, sell it at cost, and post it without anybody's lawyers writing to your faculty.
Palette is deep comic blue and newsprint with one signal yellow. Built for a hall under bright light, which is unusual here and deliberate.
02
Identity
A masthead, a cover grid, a panel border. All original.
A masthead lockup with an issue number and a price box, plus a cover grid that takes any portrait and turns it into a plausible single-character cover.
A panel and gutter system with speech and caption shapes, and a four-page guide covering the halftone rule and the one legal rule: no existing character, logo, or costume goes anywhere near these files.
03
Design assets
Print-ready at true size, no guessing at the copy shop.

DIY lab
Step-by-step builds with real costs. Start with the green ones.
EasyCodename cards
Collect powers anonymously from the group — one line each about somebody else — then print as cards handed out at the door. Free, and it is the entire premise.
- Cost
- 90 total EGP

Unlocks with the kitEasyPersonal covers
Drop each portrait into the cover grid, add the codename to the masthead, print at A4. Everyone leaves with a cover of themselves.

Unlocks with the kitMediumThe panel wall
Blank panels and gutters pasted across one wall. People draw their own moment into a panel across the day — stick figures welcome. It is a comic by evening.
- Cost
- 450–700 EGP
- Prep
- 3 hrs
Unlocks with the kitAdvancedThe newsstand
A cardboard facade over a table, stacked with the printed issue and every personal cover. It is the first thing people photograph and where the covers get handed out.
- Cost
- 600–900 EGP
- Prep
- 5 hrs
07
Photography
Twelve shots, in order, for hard bright light.
Bright and contrasty on purpose — this is the one realm where flat lighting is wrong. The list uses direct light and hard shadow, with the frame prop for portraits.
Plus a grade preset pair that pushes toward halftone contrast without wrecking skin.
08
Video
One 45-second edit anybody can cut on a phone.
Covers coming off the stand one by one, then a time-lapse of the panel wall filling.
Titles and sound-effect overlays as transparent PNG sequences, plus a CapCut guide for cutting on the beat with hard transitions.
